The Lamp Lab at the University of MarylandWelcome to the website for the Lamp Lab, Department of Entomology, University of Maryland. We are a group of people under the leadership of Dr. William (Bill) Lamp, studying insects in a variety of terrestrial and aquatic settings, with applications to agriculture, pest management, freshwater ecology, and biomonitoring. The Lamp Lab performs research on ecosystem services provided by arthropods on farms, including bio assessment of farm conditions using structure and function of arthropods, enhancement of conservation biological control in managed farm habitats (such as ditches and farm ponds), and the use of insects as feed for farm animal management. Together, this work is designed to increase stability and resilience of farms to insect pests, as well as to inform our educational efforts on biodiversity for student training and outreach. Details of specific projects can be found in the Projects tab. |
